「The Govt. of India awards the Sangeet Natak Akademi honour in the field of Performing Arts to prominent exponents of the country.
Pandit Manilal Nag(62), veteran sitarist of the Vishnupur Gharana of Bangal is recipient of this prestige by His Excellency ,the President of India for the year 2001.
The Akademi Award ceremony was held in Guwahati,
Assam on the 4th April,2002 in the presence of Bhupen Hazarika, Chairperson, SNA, Mr. Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Assam and many other celebrities .
The award was given away by Honorable Lt. Gen. S. K. Sinha,the Governor of Assam, amidst a ceremonious gathering at Rabindra Bhavan, Guwahati」 2002_4_9
